With the iSteady MT3 Pro, Hohem unveils a new 3-axis gimbal featuring AI-powered object tracking that follows not only faces but also objects, combined with a payload capacity of up to 2.5 kg. Thanks to its detachable remote control, the stabilizer is clearly aimed at ambitious content creators and videographers, while still maintaining a competitive price point. It positions itself as a direct competitor to the DJI Ronin RS4.

The feature list of the Hohem iSteady MT3 Pro is extensive, and its price is surprisingly moderate. With a payload capacity of 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs), the MT3 Pro positions itself as a direct competitor to several DJI models, including the RS4 and RS4 Mini. Readers who aim for a more compact Smartphone gimbal read our review of the iSteady V3 Ultra - the MT 3 Pro is a pro-grade gimbal.

AI tracking and 2.5 kg payload place the MT3 Pro in the professional segment

Hohem clearly positions the MT3 Pro above typical creator-focused gimbals. With its 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) payload, it competes directly with DJI offerings such as the RS4 and RS4 Mini. At the same time, the MT3 Pro brings several compelling selling points that help it stand out from DJI’s lineup:

More affordable than the DJI RS4 – Despite better features

While the DJI RS4 retails for around $609 on Amazon.com, Hohem offers true pro-grade equipment for $449. The Hohem iSteady MT3 Pro delivers a longer feature list and several advantages over the RS4, making its pricing particularly attractive.

Detachable remote control with live view as a unique selling point

The MT3 Pro inherits one of Hohem’s most distinctive features from its other gimbals: a detachable remote control with live view. This is especially useful for content creators who film themselves and do not want to constantly walk back to the camera for adjustments.

With a wireless range of up to 10 meters (33 ft), the remote allows users to start and stop recording, enable or disable AI tracking, and even adjust the gimbal’s position remotely via joystick.

Built-in AI tracking for people and objects

Another major advantage over the DJI RS4 is the integrated AI tracking system. The permanently installed AI camera module can track not only faces, but also animals and objects such as cars or even buildings.

Creators simply select a subject, start tracking via a trigger or double-tap on the remote, and can then move freely around the subject. The AI tracking keeps the selected target centered in the frame at all times. Moving subjects can also be tracked reliably, and tracking speed can be adjusted to match different scenarios.

Aadditional features: Vertical mode, follow options, and lightweight design

Beyond its core features, the MT3 Pro includes numerous refinements that further distinguish it from competing gimbals: an integrated light, quick switch for vertical shooting, customizable follow speeds for each axis, Teflon-coated plates for smoother camera mounting and adjustment, a fine-tuning dial for front-to-back camera positioning, and a lightweight design at just 765 g (1.69 lbs).

Optional kit with motorized follow focus

A particularly nice touch: for an additional $100, Hohem offers a kit that includes a motorized follow focus with mounting rod. The focus can be controlled manually or electronically via the gimbal’s control wheel, thanks to the integrated mini motor.

How well the AI tracking performs in real-world use, how precise the remote control feels, and how the MT3 Pro handles different camera setups will be covered in a detailed hands-on review. Our test unit has already arrived — in the kit version with additional grip and follow focus. More coming soon.
