Asus has now released the AMD Strix Halo version of the TUF Gaming A14 (FA401EA) with a 165 Hz display, a 73 Wh battery, dual M.2 2280 slots and 95 W delivered to its Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU. Presented during CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the FA401EA was originally billed to feature up to 32 GB of RAM. However, Asus then silently updated the laptop's specifications to include a 64 GB RAM variant.
Surprisingly, Asus has now released the latter RAM configuration first in most markets. At the time of publication, Asus has opened pre-orders across China, Japan, Spain and Poland. Thus, it seems that a full global launch is nailed on at this point, although it remains unclear when the TUF Gaming A14 (FA401EA) will reach other markets like Australia, North America and the rest of Europe. Specifically, Asus currently offers the following SKUs:
- AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD - CNY 9,999 (~$1,435) CNY 12,699 MSRP (~$1,822)
- AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392, 64 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD - CNY 11,999 (~$1,721) CNY 14,999 MSRP (~$2,152) / JPY 379,800 (~$2,392) / PLN 8,999 (~$2,497) / €1,699 (~$1,986)
In other words, the FA401EA is between ~$350 and ~$550 more expensive in Europe than last year's model equipped with a Ryzen AI 7 350 and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU (curr. $1,749.99 on Amazon). For reference, the Radeon 8060S inside the Ryzen AI Max+ 392 enjoys around a 10-12% advantage in games over the GeForce RTX 5060. Assigning up to 48 GB VRAM should help maximise gaming performance too, provided that one opts for the 64 GB RAM version of the FA401EA rather than its cheaper 32 GB RAM equivalent. Please see Asus' website and our launch article for more details about the company's first 14-inch Strix Halo gaming laptop.
