Philips Hue has launched a Wall Light Module that will bring compatible Nanoleaf shapes to the Philips Hue ecosystem. In addition, the company has also partnered with Sonos to expand how users control home audio.

Philips has confirmed its partnership with Nanoleaf, as was leaked last week. This will enable Nanoleaf users to control compatible shapes within the Philips Hue ecosystem. The cross-brand communication will be facilitated by the Philips Hue Wall Light Module. Additionally, a Sonos integration is also being enabled for expanded music control. Along with the new hardware, Signify and Philips Hue have announced ‘Custom AI Behaviors’ that are exclusive to the Hue Bridge Pro.

Philips Hue Wall Light Module features

The small module will attach to compatible Nanoleaf shapes, including Hexagons, Triangles and Mini Triangles, and bring them into the Philips Hue ecosystem. This means users will be able to include these panels in Hue scenes, entertainment settings, and automations via the Hue app. The module will support up to 100 compatible panels. It will be sold separately and will be available as part of starter sets that include compatible Nanoleaf panels.

Sonos integration

Philips Hue is also partnering with Sonos to allow Philips Hue switches like the Hue Tap Dial Switch to control home audio. Sonos Favorites or actions like play/pause, volume adjustment, and changing tracks can soon be assigned to these smart switches.

Custom AI Behaviors

As is the nature of AI integrations, users will be able to simply describe what they want, and the Hue AI assistant will create a personalized lighting automation. The requests are translated into tailored behaviour by using triggers, conditions, and actions. These Custom AI Behaviours will only be supported by the Hue Bridge Pro.

Philips Hue Wall Light Module, Sonos integration, AI feature availability

The Philips Hue x Nanoleaf Wall Light Module is priced at $40 and is available today, September 3. The Sonos integration will arrive in November via a software update, and Custom AI Behaviors will be available in early October.
