Home Assistant rolls out major app update with new energy widget

A new Home Assistant app update for iOS devices has arrived. Version 2026.9.0 follows on from 2026.7.x releases across July and August 2026. The latest version of the iOS app for the smart home automation software brings a dozen new features.

Firstly, users of Home Assistant for iOS get a new energy widget for the Home and Lock Screens, making it easier to view power consumption metrics. There is a second Calendar widget, displaying upcoming events, and a medium sized widget for the Assist voice assistant, with support for more than one pipeline. On top of this, you can now view timers and track the progress of live activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

The Home Assistant app for the Apple Watch has been redesigned, with a Labs feature allowing a greater level of customization. You can share health data with Home Assistant, as well as sync Apple Reminders with your Home Assistant to-do list. Plus, climate and vacuum controls can now be accessed in CarPlay.

The release notes for Home Assistant 2026.9.0 list bug fixes for issues linked to Widgets, Assist and deep links. The app is also said to launch faster, and there are improvements for settings, entity pickers and the camera player. You can view the complete change log in the screenshot below.
