New Home Assistant app update improves Kiosk Mode

The Home Assistant app for iOS has been updated to version 2026.7.2. This smartphone app, linked to the open-source smart home automation software, got a refreshed Kiosk Mode in the 2026.7.0 update at the start of July 2026.
The Kiosk Mode feature can be used to make an iPhone or iPad into a Home Assistant display, keeping the screen on and showing the dashboard of your choice. Now, with Home Assistant iOS app version 2026.7.2, users receive two new kiosk mode commands. These are kiosk_set_screensaver_mode and kiosk_set_screensaver_brightness. This update also resolves a bug which was preventing sensors from updating from some servers.
Home Assistant app version 2026.7.2 for iOS follows on from the version 2026.7.1 release from mid-July, which was listed as the last update which will be compatible with iOS 15 and watchOS 8. In the latest release notes, the Home Assistant team notifies users that updates from the 2026.8.0 release will require iOS 16.4 or later.
You can download the Home Assistant app version 2026.7.2 from the Apple App Store. The full release notes for this update can be found in the screenshot below.
