Google Pixel Watch 5 leaks in Google Health App

There are exactly two weeks left until Google’s big launch event on August 12. Google is already hard at work behind the scenes preparing for the launch, as Android Authority has already spotted the Pixel Watch 5 in the Google Health smartphone app. The next-generation smartwatch appears in the list of compatible products when a new device is connected.

The images of the smartwatch were taken directly from the Google Pixel Watch 4 ($399 on Amazon) setup process. While these could be placeholders, the design of the Pixel Watch 5 isn’t expected to change based on leaked product images. This likely means that the Pixel Watch 5 will be just as easy to repair as its predecessor. The Google Health app doesn’t reveal any further details about the smartwatch’s features.

Rumors suggest that the Google Pixel Watch 5 could be a rather disappointing upgrade. This is because the smartwatch is expected to retain the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 from its predecessor, rather than switching to the Snapdragon Wear Elite like the Samsung Galaxy Watch9. At least Google is reportedly including 3 GB of RAM instead of the previous 2 GB, which should give the watch more capacity for AI features. In addition to Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and an NFC chip, the Google Pixel Watch 5 also features a GPS module, an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip, and an optional LTE modem. It is not yet known whether Google will equip the Pixel Watch 5 with new sensors or health features.
