Pixel 11 marketing leak quietly raises the base model's zoom ceiling

Evan Blass has published a fresh batch of what appear to be official Pixel 11 marketing renders through his Leakmail newsletter, days after leaking the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel Watch 5. Among the images is a demo shot of a parrot on a park bench, explicitly labeled as 30x zoom.

The 30x figure is worth noting. The Pixel 10 (the non-Pro model) shipped with a 10.8 MP, 5x optical telephoto camera and a Super Res Zoom ceiling of 20x, a first for the non-Pro tier after Google added a dedicated telephoto lens to the base phone last year. Camera leaks from May suggested the base Pixel 11 is not getting the new telephoto hardware rumored for the Pro and Pro XL, so a jump to 30x on the same or a similar lens points to a software-based extension of Super Res Zoom rather than a sensor change. It also gives the base Pixel 11 the same 30x ceiling that the Pixel 9 Pro hit before Pro Res Zoom pushed Pro models to 100x, though generational comparisons across tiers should be interpreted cautiously because the optical hardware differs.

The colorways in this batch match what has already leaked: Midnight, Fuchsia, Moss, and Sterling for the base Pixel 11, all with matching matte aluminum frames and glossy glass backs.

The two Gemini-focused images highlight software features rather than hardware. One shows the assistant identifying a drooping houseplant through the camera, a Gemini Live capability already available on the Pixel 10. The other shows Gemini picking up context from earlier in a conversation to draft a reply automatically, which is not available on the Pixel 10 and would mark a new context-aware capability in the Pixel 11's assistant integration.

Google's Pixel 11 series, including the Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold, is set to launch at a Made by Google event in New York on August 12.
