In August, app data hinted that Amazfit might integrate photovoltaic panels on both the front display ring and the rear chassis—a design choice now confirmed by an APK teardown from Gadgets & Wearables.

While dual solar panels may sound unusual at first glance, the concept aligns well with the target demographic of the T-Rex series. Zepp Health is targeting not just casual runners, but endurance athletes, long-distance trekkers, and expeditionists who require extended battery life off the grid. During rest periods or lunch breaks, users can take off the smartwatch and place it face down in direct sunlight. This takes advantage of the larger surface area available on the back panel, which is otherwise sparsely occupied by optical sensors and charging contacts.

The APK analysis reveals that the software tracks solar intensity separately for the front and rear panels. Real-time feedback on light absorption allows users to angle the device for maximum energy intake. While official pricing and release dates remain unannounced, recent regulatory certifications indicate an imminent market launch.
