Three Amazfit smartwatches get new features in major update

Amazfit is rolling out a new update for the Balance 3, Balance Ultra and Cheetah 2 Ultra smartwatches. Described by the brand as the September OTA Major Update on Chinese social media platform Weibo, it brings several new features to these wearables.

Users of these Amazfit Balance and Cheetah smartwatches can now manage their Helio Strap directly on the watch. You can get low battery alerts for the screenless wearable as well as access the control centre and shortcut cards. On top of this, on-watch HYROX analysis is also available for users of the Helio Strap Pro.

Other new features with the Amazfit September update are a new peripheral connection reminder on the workout preparation page, and more music and playlist management features. The latter ensures different background music for each workout thanks to regular playlist updates. These smartwatches now support FTMS compatible smart trainers and indoor bikes. There are also new navigation related tools such as wrong-way detection and route deviation warnings in real time. Plus, a navigation function has been added to the training library, and the route elevation chart is said to be more readable.

The Amazfit September OTA Major Update is also known as firmware version 6.2.35.x. It is expected to roll out in phases to users of the Balance 3 (curr. $369.99 at Amazon), Balance Ultra and Cheetah 2 Ultra smartwatches.
