Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 series are now no longer supported.
Samsung has ended software support for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, leaving their August 2026 security update as the final release. The Wear OS pioneers will remain functional, but the lack of future patches, bug fixes and compatibility updates may prompt some owners to consider upgrading.

Samsung has formally ended software support for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, removing both from its security update page roughly five years after their launch in 2021. Their final update arrived in August 2026 and contained essential security fixes, meaning no further regular patches, bug fixes or software improvements are planned.

The decision closes an important chapter for Samsung’s smartwatch lineup, as the Watch 4 series was the company’s first generation to transition from Tizen to Google’s Wear OS, with Samsung and Google jointly developing Wear OS 3. This helped reshape Samsung’s wearable platform, although the watches retained much of the look and feel of the previous Tizen-based interface.

For existing owners, the watches will continue to function, but the end of updates may be a significant drawback for some, especially for those who rely on payment or cellular features, while compatibility and software improvements are also no longer guaranteed. Samsung’s oldest supported watches are now the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro.
