Xiaomi reveals new luxury smartwatch with up to 14 days battery life

Xiaomi has just begun teasing the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. As we have discussed separately, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max have only been mentioned on Xiaomi's Chinese social media channels for now. Simultaneously, the company has shared initial details about a new Watch S5 smartwatch, too.
For context, the Watch S5 launched globally in May with a 46 mm case size. Priced at €179 in the Eurozone (curr. $189 on Amazon), the Watch S5 46 mm contains a 1.48-inch AMOLED display reaching a quoted 2,500 nits peak brightness. Additionally, Xiaomi's 46 mm variant boasts up to 21 days of battery life form its 815 mAh battery, as well as dual-band GNSS, NFC and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity in a 10.99 mm-thick housing.
By contrast, Xiaomi claims that the new 41 mm variant will be around 9.9 mm thick, 9% thinner than its 46 mm counterpart. Likewise, the new model officially weighs 36 g, compared to 46 g for the 46 mm variant. This 20% weight reduction corresponds with a 33% battery life drop to 14 days.
Still, this would see the Watch S5 41 mm lasting 75% longer than its direct predecessor. Moreover, the new Watch S5 has been shown in five variants so far, including Milanese and leather-effect strap options. While Xiaomi has already opened reservations in China, the Watch S5 41 mm will not be officially launching until later this month. Although an exact launch date remains unknown for now, the timing of today's announcement suggests that the Watch S5 41 mm will debut alongside the Xiaomi 18 series.
