Opera asserts that its latest browser innovation will appeal to professionals, gamers and social media users alike. It eliminates the need to switch between multiple taskbar icons throughout the day by conferring access to a select number of apps within its own window. The integration is touted to make Opera One more convenient, flexible and versatile.

The Norwegian company Opera claims that it is on a mission to deliver "the best possible internet browsing experience across all devices" (even iPhones).

However, that is not always easy when its users are constantly drawn away from its app's window with traditionally off-browser distractions such as checking and replying to messages for work, social or gaming purposes.

To that end, Opera's "AI browser" One is set to upgrade to the integration of 3 new apps into its sidebar (located, as the name suggests, to 1 side of its UI, where it can be populated with shortcuts to other services).

The feature has been available in Opera One's developer beta for some time, but is now ready for the app's stable channel.

Slack, Bluesky and Discord have thus officially joined the list of platforms compatible with the Opera One sidebar, alongside others such as Telegram, WhatsApp and Instagram.

The feature is available for the desktop version of the browser only, although Opera asserts that it can turn the app into a "hub" for the user's workflow on their PC or laptop.
