Opera now offers access to multiple blockchains, well-known examples such as Solana and Polygon included. Its representatives indicate that they have been integrated into the browser in order to future-proof it against the anticipated rise of Web3 at the company. The change affords users access to potential benefits such as access to more DApps and crypto transaction types at reduced gas fees.

Opera has just announced support for IXO, Nervos DAO, StarkEx and Ronin, as well as the potentially much more familiar blockchains Celo, BTC, Polygon and Solana. The move may expand the browser's portfolio of compatible decentralized apps (or DApps), those of the metaverse or gaming variety included.

The company has also noted that its new feature allows access to services such as the crypto exchange DiversiFi, which is based on StarkEx. It also asserts that its new spate of blockchain adoptions allow it to hasten the often-predicted Web3 future in a carbon-neutral and low-gas-fee manner: benefits often touted as associated with the use of Polygon.

Opera has been able to integrate 8 blockchains at once thanks to its Crypto Browser Project, implemented in early 2022 to further a goal of seamless navigation between DApps in a way more relatable to the well-established "Web2" online experience of today. Accordingly, one may need to download the eponymous version of the same in order to access its new levels of integration.
