Opera has announced a version of its browser for Chromebooks and Chrome OS. The browser is the first third-party program that natively supports Chrome OS and contains several innovations, including an ad block and a VPN, among others.

Opera has introduced a new version of its browser, this time for Chrome OS. According to the company, Opera is the first real alternative to Google Chrome on the Chrome OS platform. By real alternative, Opera means optimised for Chrome OS; Chromebooks can already run Android-based browsers. Opera bases the Blink engine that underpins its browser on Chromium for reference.

However, Opera offers several features that Google Chrome lacks. For example, the company has integrated a crypto-wallet, along with a free VPN. Additionally, Opera has a built-in ad blocker and integrated messaging services, such as Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Twitter and WhatsApp.

Moreover, Opera has a light and dark mode that you can augment with five colour themes. Opera has integrated a night mode too that reduces the blue light that content emits. You can download Opera for Chrome OS now.
