Opera asserts that it has been inundated with requests for a mobile version of its gaming-focused browser since launching the PC-compatible original. Now, it has delivered with the launch of GX Mobile. It shares many features with the desktop variant, its customized navigation controls and esthetics included.

GX is the gaming-oriented form of the Opera browser that has attracted downloads in their millions since its initial 2019 early-access release. Now, its maker has debuted the mobile version of the same. It is obviously not a complete one-to-one remake of the desktop variant; however, it has the same general look, as well as some features specific to the GX build.

They include the Fast Action Button (FAB) navigation mode, which involves device haptics for feedback, as well as GX corner, a dedicated homescreen zone with a curated feed for "the latest gaming news, deals and a game release calendar".

Opera GX Mobile also features its own version of this browser's Flow in order to sync it with GX on a user's PC via a QR code. This sets up an "encrypted" channel through which files, links or memos can be swapped between the phone and computer in question. This new browser version is available from now as an Android or iOS app, both of which are in beta at present.
