Opera is not just a single browser, but an entire family. Even for the same platform, namely the PC, there are various browsers with distinctly different target audiences, such as the Opera GX-Browser optimized for video gamers. Opera has now introduced a new browser, Opera Neon. This is not really a browser in the classic sense, but rather an AI interface, which, according to the company, is intended to go far beyond the possibilities of AI systems currently on the market.
Basically, Opera Neon's functionalities are divided into three categories: Chat, Do, and Make. The Chat feature is likely very similar to other already existing AI or LLM offerings, allowing Opera Neon to display information clearly without having to access multiple websites. Neon Do is much more innovative, but not entirely new either: it is a browser operator that, for example, carries out tasks such as research tailored to the user's needs or making bookings.
We've already speculated on the functionality of Opera Make in a previous article: it is essentially a continuation of Opera's AI Browser Operator for users who want to carry out other tasks with the browser or are even offline. According to Opera, complex tasks or research are then carried out on a computer in the cloud. Using cloud services also means a (monthly) fee. Opera Neon is not yet widely available; interested parties can be placed on a waiting list.
