Opera One for iOS hyped to bring more AI search options to more open Apple ecosystem

Opera has announced that it will celebrate its wider, DMA-mandated access to the Apple ecosystem by unleashing a version of the "AI-centric" One browser for iPhones. The company asserts that its app will stand out in the coming influx of Safari alternatives with an enhanced UI and UX. Opera also now hints that it will get into even more AI in the near future, in a way also related to Europe.

The Digital Markets Act or DMA comes into effect in March 2024, and "leading European browser developer" Opera now asserts that it will be ready "to compete for iOS users" with a fully functional version of the One browser for iPhones.

The executive vice president for Opera's mobile division Jørgen Arnesen credits the DMA with "fostering competition and offering users a more diverse selection of browsers on iOS" in advance. The company is confident that those iPhone owners will go for its browser from their new selection screens as it puts the integrated AI originally known as Aria "in focus".

Furthermore, a similar experience for iPadOS may also be on the way soon. Opera One for iOS should be available to install in a few months; in the meantime, its continued development is touted to be assured with its maker's upcoming (and also Europe-based) "major investment in a key AI infrastructure project", more details on which will be forthcoming soon.
