Just a day after rolling out the iOS and iPadOS 17.2, Apple has now released the 17.3 beta versions for developers.
As per the Wall Street Journal’s report, the new 17.3 update will bring the Stolen Device Protection feature, which is a new anti-theft feature that aims to restrict access to users’ private data in case the device gets stolen. Upon activation, the feature will require addition ID verification to access passwords and other credentials.
Additionally, the feature also delays actions like attempts to change iPhone passcode or Apple ID password. On top of ID verification, the new update will also delay the change by an hour and would need yet another biometric authentication.
These new features will likely be available in January 2024, as that is when the 17.3 will be rolling out. Registered developers who wish to opt in for betas can head over to the Settings app and get the software update. Users will need to have an Apple ID linked to the developer account to install the beta version.
