As the first step in its new quest of "building a connected human experience," OnePlus is planning to launch its first TV set next year. The OnePlus TV will come with a premium design, focusing on providing the best audio/video experience in its segment. The only detail public at this stage is that fact that the TV will feature an AI assistant.

OnePlus has been only making smartphones until now, but this is something that will change next year. According to the company's founder, Pete Lau, OnePlus will launch a TV in the future. He also revealed that the device is currently in an early development stage, but if everything goes well, it should hit the market by the end of 2019.

The upcoming OnePlus TV will feature a premium design and will offer AI-driven capabilities similar to those provided by Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant "but with more of a visual element." Unfortunately, there is no information about the technical specs or other features of the OnePlus TV.

For now, the only thing set in stone is the fact that the OnePlus TV is coming. Pete Lau: "We want to be clear and make it well known that this decision has been made and we are going to make this product." If the product will live up to the expectations and can provide the same selling points as the OnePlus handsets — premium design, specs, features, materials, build quality, software for a competitive price — OnePlus fans and those who are planning to get a new TV that features advanced connectivity capabilities and does not break the bank in the next one to two years should get ready to celebrate.

Given the early development stage of the TV, we will probably hear more about it starting in late 2018/early 2019. What would the OnePlus TV need to offer to make you buy it? Let us know in the comments.
