New leaks suggest that Huawei is to release its own smart TV product, and that it may be here as early as the first half of 2019. This is based on claims that the company has filed a patent for a "Huawei AI Window". The rumor may make sense, as more and more traditional smartphone OEMs are moving into this new market.

Huawei is now said to have a new product in the works. This one will also have a full-screen display, but is not a phone or tablet: it is a smart TV. Such a rumor is based on a report by GizChina, which claims that the OEM has filed a new patent for something called a "Huawei AI Window". It apparently refers to LCD screens and other aspects of what makes up a smart TV.

GizChina asserts that this new product will be available "within 6 months", suggesting that it may be here by about June 2019. However, the report does not say if the 'Huawei smart TV' will be released worldwide or just to the company's domestic market. GizChina reasons that a move into the AI-powered flatscreen world is a plausible move for Huawei. Its main competitor in China, Xiaomi, makes its own range of smart TVs after all; furthermore, OnePlus has also announced that it will also unveil its own version of this product soon.

Smart TVs may be a significant alternative line of business for many mobile device makers soon. In Huawei's case, it may be a worthwhile application of its pre-existing AI development capabilities, and also possibly for the own-brand OS Huawei are also rumored to be preparing. In addition, smart TVs are seen as a veritable pipeline of the future. This image works for both the media and information consumers will want and for access to these consumers for the smart TV manufacturers themselves.
