Last week, Huawei started sending out the Android 10-based EMUI 10 update to its current-gen flagships, the Mate 20 and P30 series. Honor, Huawei's high-value, youth-focused sub-brand also started sending out the Android 10 update to its flagships, the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, and Honor View 20. Honor has now revealed its plans for the Android 10 update.
Considering this was shown at the Honor V30 update event, it's as official as it gets. The following devices will be updated to Android 10:
Honor 20 Pro
Honor 20
Honor 20i
Honor 20s
Honor 9X Pro
Honor Magic 2
Most of these were expected to receive the update. Huawei /Honor usually delivers two major updates to its flagships, and this will be the second major update phones like the Honor 10 and Honor V10 get. They will not receive the Android 11 update.
Impressively, like its predecessor, the Honor 7X, the Honor 8X will receive two major updates. It was launched on Android Oreo and received the EMUI 9 update. It's nice to see Honor take its best-selling line seriously.
Sadly, the Honor Play doesn't get the same treatment. It was released in the same period as the Honor 8X but will remain stuck on Android Pie. That's a shame, since it's powered by the same Kirin 970 on phones like the Honor 10 and Honor V10—both of which will get the Android 10 update.
The Honor 8X Max is also missing from the list, likely due to the fact that its powered by a third-party SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636.
