The new Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker has been released in China. This colorful, compact device was unveiled during the annual speech of the brand’s CEO, Lei Jun. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor use, with an IP66 dust and water resistance rating.
Xiaomi’s Portable Bluetooth Speaker has two full-range speakers and a passive radiator, with 3W rated output power. Users can link two units for stereo sound, or up to ten speakers for an immersive audio experience. There are physical control buttons, or you can remotely adjust the device's settings via the brand’s app, thanks to support for Bluetooth 5.4. Through the app, users will also be able to access over-the-air (OTA) updates. Other features include NFC Support, HyperOS and 4GB of memory, which should allow you to store up to 750 songs locally.
Plus, the Portable Bluetooth Speaker has an integrated 1,980 mAh battery that should allow the speaker to run for up to ten hours between charges, recharging via USB-C. There are six colors on offer. The shade of green is said to be inspired by the SU7, and the obsidian (dark gray/black) version is linked to the SU7 Ultra. The other four colors are blue, pink, purple and titanium. It is said to have an ultra-thin metal body, measuring 154.0 x 56.0 x 25.4 mm (~6.1 x 2.2 x 1.0 inches) and weighing 249 g (~8.8 oz).
In China, the Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker retails for CNY 299 (~$42). Whether or when this model could be released in other markets like Europe is unclear; here, the company already sells the older Sound Pocket in countries like Germany (curr. €19.99 at Amazon).
