The Devialet Phantom has always been known for strong bass in a compact form factor, and the new Phantom Ultimate is designed to improve that performance even further. The more affordable Phantom Ultimate have a maximum volume of 98dB with a frequency range from 18Hz to 25kHz, while the more expensive model even can hit a volume of up to 108dB.
A feature called "Heart Bass Implosion" (HBI) can reproduce bass down to 14Hz, which can no longer be heard by the human ear but can be felt. The integrated amplifier can process high frequencies up to 35kHz, which is intended to allow for even clearer highs. Meanwhile, the redesigned housing reveals the two woofers on the sides, while the midrange driver and tweeter are hidden behind a newly developed speaker grill that's also meant to improve the sound. Four touch-sensitive buttons are available to control the speaker, but a remote must be purchased separately if needed.
With the corresponding smartphone app, two Devialet Phantom Ultimate speakers can be wirelessly combined into a stereo speaker, multi-room audio setups are also supported. The sound can be adjusted via a six-band equalizer. Moreover, the speaker supports both WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. The NXP iMX8 processor, in conjunction with the DOS3 operating system, can wirelessly steam music to the Phantom Ultimate via Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Roon, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect or UPnP.
