Affordable Redmi Desktop Speaker 2 Pro launches with four drivers and wireless playback

Xiaomi has introduced a new affordable desktop speaker, the Redmi Desktop Speaker 2 Pro. It's currently available on the crowdfunding platform Youpin, and it comes with a four-driver configuration. Among the four, there are two passive woofers and two 10-watt racetrack-style speakers.

The company says that this driver configuration allows the unit to offer a wide soundstage. Redmi's new Desktop Speaker 2 Pro also offers a flexible connectivity option. The affordable speaker can play audio from USB, wirelessly through Bluetooth 5.3, and in wired mode through the AUX input port.

Of course, it's worth noting that the desktop speaker doesn't feature a built-in battery. So, even in the wireless audio mode, it needs to be connected to the wall, and Xiaomi offers a separate adapter for powering the device.

Another highlight of this new affordable speaker is the metal grille design, which, paired with the knob on the side, makes the desktop speaker look sleek. There's an integrated RGB light as well, and it can be set in six different effects, which can dynamically change with the music (10-feet Philips Hue Lightstrip Base Kit curr. $61.99 on Amazon).

Users also have the option to select one of the five EQ presets depending on what they are listening to. There's a game mode, which promises responsive and immersive sound output.

As for the price, the Redmi Desktop Speaker 2 Pro is currently available on Youpin for CNY 369, around $52. There's no word on when it will make a global debut, but the company offers a somewhat similarly configured speaker, the Xiaomi Desktop Speaker.
