Google is rumored to be launching another smart home device in the near future, a new smart speaker. This product is expected to be a successor to older models like the Nest Mini and the Nest Audio. It was teased at Made by Google 2025 earlier in 2025 during the Gemini for Home section of the event.
Now, 9to5Google has spotted references to a ‘Google Home Speaker’ in the APK for Google Home app version 3.41 for Android. It is thought to confirm the device’s final name, rather than a placeholder. The code also indicates that the smart speaker will deliver a 360° sound experience for users. Other features listed in the APK are support for the Gemini voice assistant, an upgrade over Google Assistant, though it is worth noting that this is only available in some countries. Plus, there is an accompanying redesign for the brand’s app.
The design of the Google Home Speaker was unveiled at Made by Google; it is a round device, shown in white, with a somewhat similar appearance to an Apple HomePod mini (curr. $139.99 renewed at Amazon). The Google Home Speaker is expected to be released on October 1st, alongside other smart home products like the 2K Nest Cams. It is unclear how much this new smart speaker will cost.
