SoundUp is a relatively compact mono amplifier that delivers 100 watts of power at 3 to 8 ohms, making it compatible with most analog speakers. Compared to more expensive competing products like the Bluesound Powernode Edge (from $749 on Amazon), SoundUp does not support WiFi, Apple AirPlay or stereo output. However, two SoundUp units can be paired to drive stereo speakers. LastObject uses an efficient Class D amplifier.
The main feature of SoundUp is the built-in battery with a runtime of up to 40 hours. This means analog speakers can be used without a nearby power outlet. Charging takes place via USB-C. An additional USB-C port allows a smartphone to be charged by the amplifier’s internal battery if needed. Meanwhile, music can be played via an AUX cable or wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.1. SoundUp measures 5.1 x 4.3 x 3 inches and weighs about 2.2 lbs.
SoundUp is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter. A single amplifier costs around €135, but creating a pair of stereo speakers requires two SoundUp units, which are priced at €229. Shipping and import taxes are not included in these prices. Delivery is expected to begin in March 2026. This is the 11th Kickstarter campaign by LastObject from Denmark, but as with all Kickstarter projects, there is always some risk of delays or quality issues.
