New Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) with more powerful processor revealed

The Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) has been listed on the brand’s global website. It follows the TV Box S (2nd Gen), which was revealed in 2023 and has since launched across regions including Europe.

Like its predecessor, the TV Box S (3rd Gen) is a 4K streaming solution with a 4K 60FPS video decoder and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The latest model has a 64-bit processor alongside a quad-core A55 CPU, with Xiaomi claiming that CPU performance is boosted by 25% and GPU performance by 130%. The maximum clock speed is 2.5GHz, and there is 2GB+32GB memory.

Both versions have Google TV, allowing users to access many streaming apps, with built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant for voice commands. On the newer model, connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 for improved transmission speeds. For audio, there is support for Dolby Audio and DTS:X; the latter is an upgrade on the DTS-HD of the second-generation device. Plus, the third generation device has HDMI 2.1 and USB 2.0 ports, though it is missing the audio output featured on the older model. 

The accompanying 360° Bluetooth remote has a similar design, with dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and YouTube. The TV Box itself is slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 97 x 97 x 17 mm (~3.8 x 3.9 x 0.7 inches). It is unclear precisely when the Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) will launch, in which countries and at what price.
