The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Cat Eye Edition has been launched in China. This smart home device offers nine ways for users to unlock their front door and features an integrated AI video doorbell.
The Smart Door Lock 2 Cat Eye Edition has a built-in fingerprint scanner that unlocks the door in under 0.5 seconds with a 99.51% recognition rate. Other methods to unlock the door include Bluetooth, NFC and passwords, and the product comes with a physical backup key. It has a C-grade lock cylinder with a quieter locking mechanism and supports automatic locking.
Xiaomi’s new smart door lock is also equipped with a 2MP camera, offering a 160° wide viewing angle, low-light full color video and IR night vision. You can view a live video stream at any time from the Mijia app or through connected smart home devices like TVs, thanks to HyperOS. There is AI human detection, with captured video stored for up to three days. Through the app, you can choose to receive notifications if you leave the door open, if someone is detected loitering or if the outer panel is tampered with. Another security feature is a voice changer tool, allowing you to mask your identity when you use the intercom tool.
There are two types of battery, a 5000mAh lithium battery and four dry batteries, for up to six months of use. Plus, there is a USB-C port that you can use to connect a power bank in an emergency. Xiaomi is selling the Smart Door Lock 2 Cat Eye Edition in China for CNY 1,499 (~$207). Whether or when this smart home product could launch in other markets, such as Europe, remains to be seen.
