Xiaomi has revealed the Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain in China. As its name suggests, this smart home device is designed to be easier to conceal, with a more compact design than earlier models like the Mijia Smart Curtain 2. This also means that it can be used in some doorways.
Users of the Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain can control the device in five ways: with voice commands, through the Mijia app, on a schedule, with the accompanying remote control or manually by gently tugging the curtain. Thanks to HyperOS, you can link the curtain motor to other compatible smart home devices. Users can choose between three-speed settings, using their hand to adjust how quickly the curtains move. Plus, you can operate one curtain at a time or both simultaneously and set the open or close ratio.
This Xiaomi smart curtain opener is powered by a 1.2 Nm torque motor with a speed of 54 r/min, moving the curtains 8 cm (~3.1 inches) per second. It generates up to 30 dB noise, with hooks to support up to 50 kg (~110 lbs) of fabric. As such, some curtains, like those with eyelets, would need to be modified, and this product does not support L or U-shaped tracks. Xiaomi suggests that the device can fit in the palm of your hand, measuring 54 x 77 x 103 mm (~2.1 x 3.0 x 4.1 inches).
The Xiaomi Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain is now available in China for CNY 599 (~$82). Whether or not this smart home device will reach other countries is unclear. If it launched in markets such as North America or Europe, it would compete with products like the SwitchBot Curtain 3 (Rod version, curr. $59.99 at Amazon).
