The Home Assistant 2025.4 release is here. This is the fourth update from the open source smart home automation company this year, following its regular monthly release pattern. In March, the 2025.3 release focused on improvements for dashboards, including new headers and optimizations for tile cards.
In the 2025.4 release, Home Assistant users will get more upgrades for Dashboards. These include a new Areas Dashboard, which is currently being tested. This is intelligently generated based on the spaces in your home and can be subsequently tweaked. It serves as an alternative to the original default dashboard, and means that beginners do not have to start from scratch.
Another change relates to the voice assistant, which can now proactively start a conversation. The company claims that this feature makes it the first voice assistant on the market to have this option. Examples of things the assistant could say include, “Hey, I noticed you left the garage door open, do you want me to close it for you?” or “Welcome home, Frenck! Hope you had a great day. Want to hear the news or maybe enjoy some music?”.
On top of this, there are new and improved template functions, like combine, difference and flattens, as well as support for YAML style for light and switch templates. New integrations include the Remote calendar, the Pterodactyl game server management panel and Bosch home security-related products like the B3512 Control Panel (curr. $210.69 at Amazon). You can find the complete Home Assistant 2025.4 release notes on the company’s website.
