The MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 is another early example of Samsung Display's latest QD-OLED panel technology. As it stands, Acer, Asus and HP have also taken advantage of this Gen 5 panel. In other words, MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 will share the same core characteristics as the Predator X34 FE, HyperX Omen 34-inch OLED 360 Hz Gaming Monitor and the ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN, which are as follows:
- 3,440 x 1,440 (UWQHD) resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, 1800R curvature
- 300 nits full panel SDR, 500 nits 10% APL & 1,300 nits HDR peak brightness
- 48~360 Hz variable refresh rate with VESA Adaptive-Sync support
- RGB stripe sub-pixel layout
As the datasheet below shows, MSI claims that this new pixel arrangement enhances picture and text quality by reducing colour fringing noticeable on older 34-inch OLED gaming monitors like the MAG 341CQP (curr. $698 on Amazon). Ultimately, this feature is common across all monitors using the same Gen 5 QD-OLED panel.
However, MSI hopes to distinguish the MPG 341CQR in a few areas. Please note that the monitor's 'DarkArmor' coating is MSI's branding for a 3H coating that Samsung Display applies to all Gen 5 QD-OLED panels. Setting that aside, MSI has equipped the MPG 341CQR with a smaller stand than its predecessors with DisplayPort 2.1a (UBHR13.5), HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C (98 W) and USB Type-A (5 Gbps) ports too. Also, the MPG 341CQR leverages MSI's OLED Care 3.0 and AI Care Sensor technologies. Currently, MSI hopes to release the MPG 341CQR later this quarter for $1,099 in the US.
