Gigabyte is expanding its Tandem OLED monitor lineup for 2026 with the MO27Q28GR. Built around the 280Hz variant, the new gaming monitor adds a glossy finish for improved black levels in bright rooms. Aside from the screen coating, it is essentially the same 27-inch 1440p monitor as the MO27Q28G.

As part of its CES 2026 lineup, Gigabyte has officially unveiled the MO27Q28GR OLED gaming monitor. It uses LG Display’s 4th Gen WOLED technology and features the same 280Hz Primary RGB Tandem panel found in the MO27Q28G (curr: $599 at Newegg) that was released back in August. The key difference here is the finish, as the MO27Q28GR opts for a RealBlack Glossy coating instead of a matte surface.

Gigabyte announced the MO27Q28GR alongside three other OLED monitors, including the MO34WQC36 ultrawide with Samsung’s new 360 Hz V-stripe QD-OLED panel and the MO32U24 with a 4K 240Hz QD-OLED panel. That said, the MO27Q28GR now joins the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG as the only 280Hz Tandem OLED gaming monitors with a glossy finish.

Gigabyte MO27Q28GR key features

The Gigabyte MO27Q28GR is a 27-inch monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 280Hz refresh rate. Like other Tandem OLED panels, it also gets a notable boost in brightness, reaching up to 1500 nits in HDR at a 1.5% APL and around 335 nits at 100% APL. The panel is certified DisplayHDR True Black 500 and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space. Overall, it's similar to the MO27Q28G, with the only difference being the screen coating.

Like the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG, the MO27Q28GR uses a glossy finish, which is said to improve black levels in bright rooms. Matte OLED panels handle reflections better but also tend to have washed-out blacks and less vibrant colors under strong lighting. Other features include Nvidia G-Sync support, a built-in KVM switch, a USB hub, and a USB-C port with up to 45 W power delivery. In comparison, the Asus model only has a USB-A hub but no USB-C or KVM capabilities
