The ROG Strix XG27AQWMG is a 1440p 280Hz OLED gaming monitor that uses the new LG Primary RGB Tandem WOLED panel found on the Gigabyte MO27Q28G and LG Ultragear 27GX700A-B (curr: $847.99 at Amazon). The model was first announced at Gamescom 2025, and Asus has now revealed its release window and pricing.
Responding to TFTCentral, Asus confirmed that the ROG Strix XG27AQWMG will be released around November to December, as we earlier reported. The biggest surprise, however, is the pricing. The XG27AQWMG is now expected to cost $599 instead of $699, though final retail pricing may vary depending on tariffs.
If the price holds, it would make the XG27AQWMG the most affordable Tandem OLED monitor so far. For comparison, the LG Ultragear 27GX700A-B launched at $849.99, while the Gigabyte MO27Q28G is currently available to preorder for £499.99 (~$662) in the UK.
The ROG Strix XG27AQWMG shares many of its core specs with other Tandem OLED gaming monitors, including a 280Hz refresh rate and a 0.03 ms response time. The main difference here is the panel coating. Asus uses what it calls a TrueBlack Glossy finish, which is said to maintain deep blacks and sharper images even in well-lit rooms. The monitor also includes a presence sensor that automatically turns off the display when the user steps away.
The rest of the features are in line with other 4th Gen WOLED models. The XG27AQWMG offers a peak brightness of 335 nits in SDR and up to 1,500 nits in HDR. It covers up to 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color space and boasts DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification. As with the Gigabyte MO27Q28G, it comes with HDMI 2.1 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.4, but there is no USB-C or KVM switch.
