AOC is launching a new monitor that supports high resolution and fast screen refresh rates and can display image content even faster without using full resolution. The AG277UX also allows users to neatly store their headset away.

The AG277UX is a 27-inch monitor that can be used in two basic operating modes: either at a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 and a fast 160 Hz refresh rate, or at a 320 Hz refresh rate if users can make do with Full HD resolution. This could be in competitive multiplayer games where fast image display is more important. A Fast IPS panel is installed, which reportedly offers a peak brightness of 600 cd/m² when playing HDR content and a gray-to-gray response time of one millisecond, with MPRT resulting in twice as fast a response.
According to AOC's specs, the panel fully covers the sRGB color space with a color deviation of Delta E less than 2. However, this deviation only applies to the out-of-the-box state, and the AG277UX is not a display specifically designed for particularly color-critical applications. The features are quite extensive: not only are HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 available for image output, but also a USB 3.0 hub for connecting a keyboard, mouse or a headset. A headset can also be hung directly on a fold-out monitor hook.
Two image sources can be displayed simultaneously, and the screen can be virtually reduced in size, shrinking the effective screen diagonal to 24.5 inches. Information on price and availability is still pending.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
