The LG UltraGear 27GX700A-B is a relatively new 27-inch 1440p gaming monitor that uses the new Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel from LG Display. It goes up against rivals like the Gigabyte MO27Q28G and Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG.
Its only real drawback so far has been the price. It launched at $849.99, noticeably higher than the Gigabyte MO27Q28G, which sells for around $662 in the UK. That’s about to change, though, as LG has slashed a whopping $200 off the price, bringing it down to an all-time low of $649.99 and making it the most affordable Tandem OLED monitor currently available. Newegg and Best Buy are matching the deal.
The LG UltraGear 27GX700A-B is much brighter than previous OLED monitors
The 27GX700A-B offers a 280Hz refresh rate for gamers, which might seem like a downgrade compared to recent OLEDs like the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF. However, this monitor brings distinct upgrades to 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen WOLED monitors thanks to its Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel. The biggest draw is the brightness. The 27GX700A-B now reaches 1,500 nits in HDR, which makes highlights and colors pop for a more impactful HDR experience.
Moreover, the monitor covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color space and is certified under the DisplayHDR True Black 500 tier. More importantly, these Tandem OLED monitors deliver much better text clarity than previous generations, meaning they'll fare well in a home office setup. Other highlights include G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro VRR support, anti-glare coating, and both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity.
With the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQWMG still to arrive in the US, the LG UltraGear 27GX700A-B looks like great value at $649.99.
