The MSI MPG 271QR X50 is among the latest wave of 500Hz OLED gaming monitors. Announced back in Computex 2025, it's built around Samsung's 3rd Gen QD-OLED panel, like its MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50 cousin, but stands out from the competition thanks to a UHBR20-enabled DisplayPort 2.1a connection, meaning it can hit the full 500Hz refresh rate at its native 1440p resolution without needing DSC.
As part of the MPG lineup, it also gets a few extras over the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50. There are two USB-A ports and a fully featured USB-C port with 98W Power Delivery for connecting a work laptop. MSI also includes a built-in AI sensor with real-time human detection that turns the display off when you step away to help reduce burn-in. MSI has priced the MSI MPG 271QR X50 at $799, about $50 more than the MAG variant, though it is currently listed for $768.49 on Amazon US.
The rest of the features are similar to other 500Hz QD-OLED gaming monitors. It has a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and up to 1,000 nits of peak HDR brightness at 3% APL. SDR brightness tops out at 300 nits, which is still relatively bright by OLED standards. The panel is certified for DisplayHDR True Black 500 and uses a matte coating.
For gaming, MSI pairs the 500Hz refresh rate with a 0.03ms response time and Nvidia G-Sync VRR for tear-free gameplay. Alongside DisplayPort 2.1 with UHBR20 support, the monitor also includes HDMI 2.1 ports for 120Hz console gaming. There is also a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode and 98W Power Delivery, plus two USB-A ports.
The MSI MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 is available in the US through Amazon. It was previously listed on Newegg and MSI’s own store, but both are currently out of stock.
