LG Display launches 720Hz gaming OLED panel built specifically for Esports
LG Display has announced mass production of a new 24.5-inch OLED panel aimed at gamers. Specifically, the panel manufacturer claims that the panel is the first OLED 'tailored specifically for Esports' thanks to its size, resolution, response times and high refresh rate.
In a press release, LG Display clarifies this panel boasts a 720Hz refresh rate, far beyond the 540Hz offered by smaller OLED gaming monitors like the Asus ROG Swift OLED ROG PG27AQWP-W (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). Not only that, but the monitor runs natively at 720Hz and 1080p, rather than using Dual Mode Technology to hit its peak refresh rate at lower resolutions.
Moreover, the new panel provides 0.02 ms response times. Reportedly, a proprietary driving algorithm should minimise ghosting and motion blur, too. Currently, only the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace is confirmed to have leveraged LG Display's new panel. While this serves as PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026's official monitor, it is not available to purchase yet.
Instead, Asus only hinted at a Q4 2026 release last month during Gamescom 2026. Reportedly, the company is targeting $1,099 and €1,149 MSRPs too. LG Display adds that it will soon begin mass-producing more Esports-focused monitors ranging from 20 to 40-inches as well. The company has not revealed any further details yet, though.
