Deal | LG slashes prices of its popular C6 series following surveillance scandal

It's been a rough year for LG. Some months ago, a particular YouTube channel pointed out a shady part of LG's "Terms of Service" in which LG states that is the user's responsibility to inform all third parties and household members that "their voices may be captured and processed." A follow-up investigation found that a possible 216,000,000 LG devices may be indeed logging audio and snooping on local devices, which LG subsequently denied.

What impact all this has had on LG's sales is yet to materialize, but it has undoubtedly eroded consumer trust in the brand. Perhaps uncoincidentally, LG’s latest C-series has now received substantial discounts only months after its launch. The LG C6, introduced in March 2026, is an incremental upgrade over its 2025 predecessor and offers a marginally brighter panel and a faster processor.

At launch, a 65-inch C6 carried a list price of $2,700, reflecting how expensive OLED technology remains even for a "mid-tier" model. Now, with football season underway, LG has cut prices across six screen sizes, from 42 to 83 inches. The 65-inch set has dropped to $1,600, a $1,100 reduction, while the 55-inch model is $500 off its usual $1,500 price. All deals are listed directly via LG.

Interested buyers still worried about potential violations of privacy are advised to read the following statement from LG. In short, users can dig into the settings and ensure that consent has not been given for Voice Recognition, Automatic Content Recognition, and Device Connectivity and Discovery, as well as for interest-based advertising, cross-device advertising, personalized advertising and advertising/marketing. However, whether this guarantees complete privacy is still uncertain. Buyers not willing to accept that risk only have the option of waiting until more extensive investigations are carried out.
