Google Pixel 10 and older Pixel smartphones suffering from serious battery life problems after applying updates

The Pixel 10 may experience shorter battery life after applying Google's March 2026 update.
Google rolls out updates to its Pixel smartphones at a regular cadence. Battery life issues appear to plague current-generation and older Pixels after recent updates, though. Early findings have revealed why some Pixel owners are now having to charge their smartphones several times per day.

It seems that no all is well in the world of the Google Pixel 10 series. Launched in August, Google then expanded the series in February with the release of the Pixel 10a (curr. $449 on Amazon). Unfortunately, Google's latest smartphones have been dogged with issues since their release.

Initially, some early Pixel 10 series adopters reported that their handsets were suffering from major display issues. While those were resolved, subsequent updates introduced fresh issues. Now, it seems that Google has shipped another bug-ridden update to its current-generation and older handsets.

This time, multiple owners are reporting serious battery problems after applying Google's March update. Allegedly, this update shortens battery life across the Pixel 10 family. Not only that, but it impacts older smartphones all the way back to the Pixel 7 series as well.

Google has not commented on this issue yet, despite it being posted on its Issue Tracker website. Based on findings from log files, a bug is causing Pixel devices to repeatedly activate their modems, sometimes as frequently as four times per second. As a result, Google's Tensor chipsets are unable to switch into their more power-efficient standby mode. Please see the Issue Tracker for more details about this ongoing bug.
