Pixel Laptop: Return of Google Pixelbook laptops spotted in new OS release

Google has had a somewhat troublesome experience with laptop releases in the last decade or so. While its Pixel smartphone series now contains five models annually, including foldable (curr. $1,499 on Amazon), Google has not launched a new laptop directly since the release of the Pixelbook Go in 2019.
In fact, the Pixelbook Go is only one of two Pixelbook laptops that the company has launched in a decade. According to multiple sources, that could soon change. For the time being, evidence is thin on the ground about a potential return of a Google-manufactured laptop. However, Android 17 Beta 4 is said to contain multiple references to an unreleased laptop.
For instance, Google is said to have added the string 'ic_laptop_light' to its latest beta with a new icon. Embedded below, the icon is said to relate to new Gemini-based visual feedback that is also coming to Pixel smartphones. Seemingly, this icon ties in with Google's new Pixel Glow feature, full details of which we have covered separately. Unfortunately, more details about Google's return to laptops remain unknown at this stage.
