Prolific leaker Kopite7kimi has had an impeccable track record when it comes to Nvidia products. The newest leak sheds light on Nvidia's mid-range Blackwell graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5070. Nvidia's segmentation is puzzling this time as there are many SKUs, especially on the laptop side, that come with the same amount of VRAM.
Starting with the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (PG147-SKU60), we get 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM on a 256-bit bus, a GB203-300-A1 GPU with 8,960 CUDA cores and a TGP of 300 Watts. This should, at the very least, perform on par with the last-gen GeForce RTX 4080, given it has the same amount of VRAM and all. Depending on the workload, it could sit somewhere between that and the top-spec GeForce RTX 4090. Next up, we get its non-TI sibling,
the GeForce RTX 5070 (PG146/147-SKU70). It gets 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM on a 192-bit bus, a GB205-300-A1 GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores, and a TGP of 250 watts. Looking at these specs, this is better used as a 1080p card, and not 1440p, due to the rising VRAM demands of games. While it will easily blow other 12 GB offerings, like the Intel Arc B580 and AMD Radeon RX 9060 out of the water in raw performance, it might not come cheap.
Those looking for more VRAM would be wise to consider the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, which is rumoured to feature 16 GB of GDDR 7 VRAM. It may come with fewer CUDA cores and TGP, but the extra VRAM will help future-proof it, as we've seen with the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB that pulls out surprise wins in some games. Or if you have the budget, consider the GeForce RTX 5080, which, for some reason, will also launch with 16 GB video memory.
