The 3D printing market has grown exponentially over the past couple years. Manufacturers like Creality have a wide range of offerings allowing tinkerers to enter the hobby at a much more affordable price. While Creality offers several budget friendly printers, its K series is considered the flagship line and the latest addition, the K2 Pro, is an expansion of that, but at a relatively more affordable price than the K2 Plus that was released mid-2024.
Creality K2 Pro features
As mentioned earlier, the K2 Pro is a smaller version of the K2 Plus (buy on Amazon). As part of the series, if offers pretty much the same feature set, with some compromises, as its bigger brother. There will also be a K2 in the series but the company has not realesed it yet.
The K2 Pro is a Core X/Y 3D printer with a build volume of 300x300x300 mm, it can reach print speeds of up to 600 mm/s and acceleration of 20,000 mm/s2. The nozzle looks to be the same 0.4 mm tri metal design as the K2 Plus and it can reach a maximum temperature of 300 degrees C (K2 Plus can reach 350 degrees). The heatbed can reach up to 110 degrees C which is 10 degrees less than the K2 Plus. The K2 Pro supports smart auto leveling and comes with a flexible PEI build plate.
There is also a camera with AI monitoring and safety features like power loss recovery and filament tangle detection. Like the K2 Plus, it supports up to four CFS or Creality Filament Systems for multicolor printing which means it can swap between 16 colors. Thanks to the enclosure and maintained chamber temperature, tougher to print filaments like ASA, ABS, PA-CF, and PPA-CF are supported out of the box.
What it lacks compared to the K2 Plus is automatic belt tensioning, a second auxiliary cooling fan, and a second air filter. The camera is only 720p compared to the 1080p camera inside the K2 Plus. It does get Wi-Fi connectivity, along with an RJ45 port.
Creality K2 Pro price and availability
The K2 Pro only seems to be listed as a combo for now which includes the printer and a CFS unit. The combo is priced at $1,049 and will be available starting August 24. Shipping will start between August 21 and August 23. The CFS itself is priced at $319 so just the K2 Pro should cost around $750 to $800, considering the combo is typically a bit cheaper than the printer and CFS unit separately.
