The Yumi Model C is a new 3D printer currently seeking financial support through a crowdfunding campaign. Depending on the chosen variant, it can handle up to twelve filaments simultaneously, enabling users to create vibrant, multicolour printed objects. However, as the device is only fitted with a single print head, filaments need to be cut during colour changes. Three versions of the Model C are available, each offering a different build volume:
- C235 – 235 x 235 x 270 mm (9.25 x 9.25 x 10.63 in)
- C335 – 335 x 335 x 400 mm (13.19 x 13.19 x 15.75 in)
- C435 – 435 x 435 x 500 mm (17.13 x 17.13 x 19.69 in)
Regardless of the variant, the Yumi Model C promises an impressive top print speed of 700 mm/s, a maximum print bed temperature of 110°C (230°F), and the ability to work with up to twelve colours. It also offers vibration compensation for enhanced print quality. Additional features include Wi-Fi connectivity and an optional webcam for detecting printing errors. Powered by the open-source Klipper firmware, the device can be controlled via its built-in touchscreen or its companion app. The Yumi Penscreen, an add-on tablet with stylus support, is available separately at a discount during the crowdfunding campaign. Prices start at around $361 for the Yumi C235 with a bracket for five colours. As with any crowdfunding campaign, potential backers should be mindful of the usual financial risks involved.
