The Xiaomi 17 Pro received a very good score in our detailed review, partly thanks to its improved Leica camera. The compact flagship offers a new 1/1.28-inch, particularly dynamic image sensor called Light Hunter 950L. Equipped with an aperture of ƒ/1.67 and a focal length of 23 mm (equivalent), the 50 MP optics use 4-in-1 pixel binning for 2.44 μm super pixels.
The new Leica camera also has a lot to offer when it comes to videos. In addition to LOG profiles for greater dynamic range and a slow-motion option with up to 960 fps at 1080p, it has a special Video Pro mode for customizing recording parameters.
Unlike the Xiaomi 17, the Pro model can even record videos at 120 frames per second. This makes fast-moving subjects appear slightly smoother and reduces motion blur and streaking.
The OLED display on the back is a dream for vloggers
In addition to the 6.3-inch AMOLED panel on the front, Xiaomi has also integrated a 2.7-inch OLED display on the back, which also operates at a refresh rate of 120 Hz and shines at over 3,500 nits.
This opens up completely new possibilities for vlogging fans to create and share video blogs. Thanks to its significantly larger sensor, the optically stabilized main camera on the back has clear advantages over the front camera, especially in poor lighting conditions. Prices for the Xiaomi 17 Pro start at $880 as an import—a global launch currently seems unlikely.
