Asus details new 16-inch gaming laptop with global launch confirmed

Over a week has passed since Asus announced its new ROG Strix 2026. Announced alongside an 18-inch counterpart, the ROG Strix 16 was also joined by a replacement for last year's ROG Strix Scar 18 (curr. $2,699 on Amazon). While Asus is being rather coy about its latest ROG Strix Scar 18, a leak outlined the company's plans for the 2026 edition.
By contrast, Asus is being more forthcoming about the ROG Strix G16 2026. Specifically, the company has confirmed that the gaming laptop will receive a global release with six SKUs featuring Intel's new Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor. Currently, Asus lists the following part numbers on its global website:
- G615LM-TS360W
- G615LM-TS361W
- G615LP-TS343X
- G615LP-TS342X
- G615LW-TS354W
- G615LW-TS353W
All six variants feature 90 Wh batteries with 300 Hz IPS-level displays. For reference, the ROG Strix 16 will continue to output at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with 3 ms response times, though, unlike the ROG Strix Scar 18. Additionally, user-upgradeable DDR5-5600 RAM and dual M.2 2280 storage returns.
Likewise, the ROG Strix G16 still weighs 2.65 kg and measures 354 x 268 x 228~308 mm. Asus' website confirms that 'G615LM' models will also ship with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 laptop GPU that can reach 115 W, including 15 W of Dynamic Boost.
Meanwhile, G615LP options will feature the GeForce RTX 5070 8 GB, despite recent evidence suggesting that Nvidia is preparing to announce a 12 GB VRAM refresh. Although this GPU will remain limited to 115 W, G615LW SKUs will have 175 W of GPU power at their disposal thanks to Asus including the GeForce RTX 5080. As a result, G615LW SKUs will ship with 380 W power adapters compared to 280 W equivalents for the G615LM and G615LP. Asus has not confirmed pricing or availability yet.
