New Asus 18-inch gaming laptop launching with 4K Mini LED display

Earlier this week, Asus announced a trio of new ROG Strix gaming laptops for 2026. For instance, the company shared numerous details about both the ROG Strix G16 2026 and ROG Strix G18 2026. Also, it teased that an updated version of the ROG Strix Scar 18 is also on the way (curr. $3,599 on Amazon).
Currently, Asus has only teased that it will reveal more details about the ROG Strix Scar 18 (2026) 'in the coming months'. Also, the company suggested that the 18-inch laptop would officially launch sometime between April and June. In the meantime, X account Huang514613 has revealed what Asus has waiting in the wings.
On the one hand, the leak indicates that the ROG Strix Scar 18 (2026) will draw up to 450 W via a new AC adapter. Still a rectangular connector, the new power adapter has been billed as allowing the new Strix Scar 18 to fully stretch its legs' unlike its predecessor. The comparison image also highlights that the 2026 model weighs 430 g more than its predecessor. Thus, it seems likely that Asus has installed a beefier cooling solution too, although we encountered no issues when reviewing last year's model.
On the other hand, Asus will also equip the new ROG Strix Scar 18 with a 4K Mini LED display. Outputting at 3,840 x 2,400 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio, this new panel will maintain the 240 Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage of last year's 2,560 x 1,600 display. All this hardware will be rounded off with the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. Pricing remains unknown at this stage.
