Deal hunters on the lookout for a solid midrange gaming laptop are in luck today. Asus' ROG Zephyrus G14 (AMD Ryzen 9 270, Nvidia RTX 5060) is on sale for $500 off at Best Buy today, April 26.

The Zephyrus G14 packs some power in a slim and high-quality chassis. Powering the laptop is the AMD Ryzen 9 270, an 8-core CPU based on AMD's Zen 4 architecture. Graphics are handled by the Nvidia RTX 5060, a powerful midrange GPU capable of running AAA games at Full HD High/Ultra settings. The laptop comes with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered) and a 1 TB SSD. It has a 2880x1800 OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

We reviewed both the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti variants last year. While those models are more powerful, the 5060 model on sale today should be adequate for gamers who don't mind playing at Full HD with slightly reduced settings. The RTX 5080 variant lasted about 7.5 hours in our WiFi test, so the RTX 5060 version here should last about that long for normal use (if not a bit longer). As with any gaming laptop, battery life while gaming will be pretty short.

While our reviews praised the G14 for its excellent build quality, display, input devices, and speakers (all of which are present in the RTX 5060 version), it does have one flaw that may be a dealbreaker for some: soldered-on RAM. The memory is not upgradeable, and while 16 GB may be enough for modern computing, there will come a time when 16 GB won't be adequate. 

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (RTX 5060) is on sale at Best Buy for $1399.99, a $500 (26%) discount from its MSRP of $1899.99.
