With the new VivoBook K Series range, Asus aims to bring some of the features normally found in premium ZenBook offerings at more accessible prices. The Asus VivoBook 15 KM513 offers the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U APU and a vibrant Samsung OLED HDR panel at a starting price of ₹62,990 (US$846). While this is surely an enticing proposition, some of the qualms that the VivoBook series is known for continue to remain.

Archive.org versionThe Asus VivoBook K15 OLED (KM513) is an excellent laptop for media consumption and is relatively slim and light for a 15.6-inch screen size. The six-core Ryzen 5 CPU offers plenty of power for multitasking and demanding workloads. Gaming is not this laptop's strong suit, which means you'll have to look at other options if this is a priority for you. Battery life is a little disappointing and I wish Asus had provided a full-sized card slot instead of a microSD slot.

Archive.org versionThe Asus VivoBook K15 OLED offers a large display that is sharp, bright and offers good colour accuracy. We would have liked to see slightly better performance in order to recommend this laptop for content creators, especially those working with video — especially considering how good the screen is to look at. It is worth noting that the Asus VivoBook K15 OLED is available in Intel and AMD variants. While the entry-level models that come with the Core i3 processors technically offer lower performance, they are also cost less than this model with the AMD Ryzen 5500U chipset, which is worth keeping in mind. However, we found that barring the slightly underwhelming battery life, the Asus VivoBook K15 OLED laptop offers a good balance between performance and design. As an entertainment device, this is one of the best displays that has come our way this year, and the overall performance in day to day tasks is more than adequate — if that is what you are looking for.

Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce 940MX: Mid-range laptop graphics card based on the Maxwell architecture. Compared to the older 940M, the MX now also supports GDDR5 graphics memory and maybe slightly faster clock speeds.
AMD Vega 8: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 8 CUs (= 512 shaders) and a clock of up to 1100 MHz.
AMD Vega 10: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 10 CUs (=640 shaders) and a clock of up to 1300 MHz.
AMD Vega 3: Integrated graphics card of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 3 CUs (= 192 shaders) and a clock of up to 1200 MHz.
AMD Vega 7: Integrated graphics adapter of the Ryzen APUs based on the Vega architecture with 7 CUs (= 448 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 1,600 MHz.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel UHD Graphics 605: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Gemini Lake series. Compared to the HD Graphics 505, the 605 offers improved display outputs.

Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:
i5-8250U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,100 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.
Intel Gemini Lake:
Pentium N5000: Low power quad-core SoC from the Gemini Lake series for inexpensive notebooks. Runs with clocks between 1.1-2.7 GHz and integrates a DirectX 12 capable graphics adapter.
AMD Picasso (Ryzen 3000 APU):
R5 3500U: Mobile Quad-Core APU using Zen+ cores clocked at 2.1 to 3.7 GHz and a Vega iGPU with 8 CUs running at up to 1200 MHz.
R7 3700U: A laptop-grade APU featuring four Zen+ cores clocked at 2.3 GHz to 4 GHz and a Vega graphics adapter with 10 CUs clocked at up to 1,400 MHz.
R3 3250U: An entry-level, dual-core APU designed for use in affordable laptops. The Ryzen features two Zen cores clocked at 2.6 GHz to 3.5 GHz (SMT support is enabled for a total of 4 threads) and a Vega series graphics adapter. These specifications are similar to the older 3200U, with the higher peak operating temperature of the latter (105 °C versus 95 °C) being the only difference.
AMD Lucienne (Zen 2, Ryzen 5000):
R5 5500U: A hexa-core APU designed for use in ultra-thin, upper mid-range laptops. The Ryzen features six Zen 2 CPU cores running at 2.1 GHz to 4.0 GHz alongside the Vega 7 graphics adapter (448 unified shaders running at up to 1,800 MHz). One could be forgiven for thinking Ryzen 5 5500U is a renamed Ryzen 5 4500U - which is not the case. Ryzen 5 5500U is most similar to Ryzen 5 4600U, the most noteworthy difference between the two being the faster iGPU model of the former.
