The Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W is finally available for preorder in the US. It uses the same 4-stack Tandem OLED panel as the LG 27GX790B-B (curr. $999.99 at Amazon), offering a native 540Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz dual mode option. However, Asus also adds a TrueBlack Glossy coating to boost color vibrancy and black levels even in well-lit rooms, which helps explain the higher price.
The PG27AQWP-W is listed for preorder on Newegg for $1,099.99, which is a $100 premium over the LG alternative. It was briefly available on the Asus store as well, but it has since sold out.
720Hz glossy Tandem OLED gaming for 1099.99
According to Asus, the TrueBlack Glossy panel delivers a zero-haze surface with sharper-looking images. Specifically, dark scenes appear deeper here and colors should pop more than on matte OLEDs. It is also said to handle reflections better than previous-generation glossy WOLED panels. Aside from the glossy coating and the proximity sensor, the rest of the specs are similar to other Tandem OLED monitors.
Gamers get a 540Hz refresh rate, which can be pushed to 720Hz when running at 720p resolution, along with FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync. HDR brightness peaks at 1,500 nits, making it brighter than older WOLED monitors, while color coverage is slightly improved at 99.5% DCI-P3 with DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification.
On the connectivity front, it offers HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20), a headphone jack, and a USB hub. Unlike the LG 27GX790B-B, there is no USB-C port. That said, Asus does offer a cheaper $849.99 QD-OLED alternative with a fast 500Hz refresh rate, though it's not as bright.
