Amazon frequently offers exciting discounts on gaming monitors. As of this writing, the LG Ultragear 39GX90SA-W can be purchased with a massive 51% discount on the platform, bringing its price down to just $784.02. The deal is only available for a limited time, for both Prime and non-Prime customers.
39-inch OLED ultrawide with 240 Hz refresh rate for speedy and immersive gaming
The 39-inch LG Ultragear OLED monitor sports a resolution of 3440 x 1440, and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. While not particularly pixel dense at just around 94 PPI, the monitor performs admirably well in other areas and is more than speedy enough for fast-paced gaming enthusiasts. The 800R curve is a delight for immersive experiences, but might be a tad too aggressive for some people.
PCWorld's extensive review of the LG Ultragear 39GX90SA-W praises the OLED panel's performance, although a few minor drawbacks do exist. According to their numbers, the 39-inch Ultragear covers 96% of the P3 color gamut, which is pretty great, but not quite exceptional. As can be expected from an OLED, the panel sports inky black and near-instant response times. Although this WOLED panel can't keep up with QD-OLEDs in terms of brightness, it still performs well enough, peaking at 247 nits and 784 nits in a 100% and 10% window respectively.
The LG Ultragear 39GX90SA-W is not without flaws
That said, the Ultragear's color accuracy is acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Moreover, text clarity is extremely disappointing, which is to be expected considering the 39-inch screen size and WQHD resolution. At this size, a 5K2k panel like the LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B would certainly be a much better option for those who really care about picture quality. Thankfully, the I/O is pretty decent, and sports the following ports:
- Dual HDMI 2.1
- DisplayPort 1.4
- USB 3.1 Type-C (with DP, 65W PD), dual USB 2.0 Type-A
- Ethernet
- Audio jack
The LG Ultragear 39-inch ultrawide also runs LG webOS, allowing for smart TV functionality. At its current all-time low price on Amazon, the gaming monitor is definitely a pretty solid deal, especially for folks who require smart TV functionality.
